Marvel X Brooklyn Nine-Nine
The Devil and The Detective
By Aum Bharatia
Hell’s kitchen. A corner of New York which was filled with the most dangerous goons and organisations. All the crimes committed here pointed to one person, who was Wilson Fisk, also known as the Kingpin. Fisk’s operations took place in the open, but the name 'Kingpin' was enough to strike fear into anyone’s heart. Kingpin’s men hired a man named Doug Judy, who is commonly known as Pontiac Bandit among the cops in Brooklyn. The 99th sent their finest detective, Jake Peralta, to find Doug Judy.
Jake strolled across the docks. He was wearing black jeans under a black leather jacket over a plain shirt. His NYPD badge hung around his neck. He smelled of two-week-old pizza, which he found in his car. Terry says it's unhygienic, but Jake says that the expiry date on the box says otherwise. Captain Holt asked him to bring Amy Santiago or Charles Boyle along at least, but Jake watched Die Hard last night. Classic Jake.
“Okay, let's review," Jake whispered to himself, crouching behind a stack of shipping crates labelled 'ACME Anvils' (actually 'Vandelay Industries', but in Jake’s head, they were anvils). "Suspicious warehouse? Check. Dim lighting perfect for a dramatic reveal? Check. A group of guys in suits standing around a table looking menacingly vague? Triple check. This is it. This is my Die-Hard moment. I am John McClane, and those guys are... generic Hans Gruber-ish henchmen numbers one through six."
He pulled his gun and checked the bullets in case he was going to have a dramatic moment. Just before he was about to get up and shout “NYPD freeze!” the lights in the warehouse shattered.
Darkness engulfed the room. The men looked around in panic and stared at the dark corners.
“What was that??”
“Who is it??”
“I can't see anything?!”
The men screamed in a panicked state.
Then came the sounds. Thwack. Crunch. Crack. The sounds were rhythmic and controlled. Stealthy yet painful.
Jake crouched behind the boxes again, “Okay, that’s new. Cool, cool, cool, cool, cool…” he muttered to himself.
A body flew past him, crashing into the crates of fake notes. Silence took over the warehouse.
Jake heard soft footsteps where the men used to be. He grabbed his flashlight to investigate. He rose from his hiding place as thunder cracked. The light rushed in through the window. He saw a silhouette, fancying a crimson hue with black on its very corners. He had small horns on his head, which added more to his menacing aura. The figure held billy clubs in his hand as he panted heavily while standing on the pile of bodies.
Jake shone his flashlight on the figure, and the crimson armour reflected two letters- DD.
Jake gasped in amazement and exclaimed, “Oh. My. God. The stories were right. I thought those criminals were high when they talked about you, but you are… real. The devil of Hell’s Kitchen.”
“I usually go with Daredevil,” Daredevil said.
The thunder cracked, and the church bells rang in the distance.
“CHILLS, LITERALLY CHILLS, Jake exclaimed. “Mr Devil, appreciate the hustle, but I really need to rush right now.”
“Detective, I will take it from here,” Daredevil said in his usual tone.
“Oh, that’s a big no. Captain Holt will kill me if I don’t find Doug Judy.” Jake replied while looking around for clues.
“Doug Judy? The Pontiac Bandit?” Daredevil asked.
“Yes. I am somehow jealous that you know his name and not mine,” Jake said and scoffed softly. He looked at the tyre marks. It belonged to a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. A car which Doug Judy ‘owns.’
“I will see where these marks go up to,” Jake said as he got up.
“Don’t stress on it, Detective. The tyre marks lead to nothing. Doug Judy should not be my top priority; it’s Fisk’s operations,” Daredevil said while strolling around the warehouse.
“Fisk? As in Mayor Fisk? I knew something was fishy about that guy. Holt said that Fisk was ‘unwelcome’ news,” Jake said.
“Raymond Holt?” Daredevil looked at him.
“Yeah! Captain Raymond Holt. Robot cop man who doesn’t express any emotions. You know him?” Jake asked, trying to comprehend the awesomeness of the situation that his robotic captain met a superhero.
“Holt, one of the most honest men I have ever met- “, Daredevil tilted his head, “Get down.”
“What?” Jake stood cluelessly. Daredevil pushed Jake behind a box. A car came rushing through the window and crashed into the warehouse. The Hand Ninjas walked out of the car. Daredevil tried to focus, but the quiet steps of the ninjas made him lose track of their footsteps.
“Ninjas!!!!,” Jake gasped softly and whispered.
Daredevil moved towards Jake and pulled him up. “Alright, Detective, you want to do something cool? Help me out here,” he said before handing his billy clubs to Jake.
“This is the best day of my life. Well, second best if I count my wedding day,” he said in an excited tone. “Duck!” Daredevil exclaimed before pushing Jake down and kicking a ninja away.
Jake got up and looked around as the lights flickered in the warehouse. There were four ninjas. Jake ran towards one of them while gripping the billy club. He threw the billy club on his head. The ninja gasped in shock. Jake punched his chin, making the ninja fly past Daredevil. “NOICE!! ONE POINT TO PERALTA.” He jumped and celebrated before looking at two ninjas already knocked down by the devil.
Daredevil grabbed the last ninja and pinned him to the ground. Daredevil growled and started punching his face repeatedly. He let out a scream while his punching continued.
Jake pulled Daredevil away from the ninja. “Okay okayy, you might want to calm down now.” The ninja’s mask fell off as it was revealed to be a 14-year-old kid. Jake sighed softly. “He is just a kid, man,” Jake said.
Daredevil let a breath out. “Run,” he said as he looked at the kid. The kid gulped and got his mask back on. He ran out of the warehouse.
“You alright, man?” Jake asked as he adjusted his jacket. Daredevil nodded in response.
“So, when were you planning to tell me that you are blind? Jake asked in his usual tone.
“I am sorry?” Daredevil asked in a confused tone.
“Don’t act dumb. You moved around, feeling the textures of the boxes, and you tilted your head to focus on stuff that was far away. You couldn’t know that there were ninjas there because they are trained to be quiet, and you rely on your sense of hearing.”
“Don’t make me regret this, Detective.” Daredevil smiled softly at the smartness of the detective. He pulled his mask off and held it in his left hand. “The name’s Matt Murdock.”
Jake’s eyes widened as he saw Matt. He remembered that Amy was talking about a blind lawyer from Hell’s Kitchen who recently won a case Norman Osborn. “You are Matt Murdock! Amy told me about you! TOITS, IT MAKES SENSE HOW YOU KNOW HOLT. DOES HOLT KNOW?? PLEASE SAY NO.” Jake is unable to control himself.
Matt chuckled softly before asking him his name. Jake told him about his name with pride.
“You have good instincts, Detective Peralta, Matt said while he stood with his hands folded, “But you talked too much.”
They started dragging the bodies to one corner.
“Aw man, I forgot about Doug Judy! Damn, he is slippery.” Jake groaned softly.
“You might like this,” Matt said as he put his mask back on and walked towards the alley.
Jake followed him in the alley.
There he was. Doug Judy. All tied up in Jake’s car.
“Doug Judy, or should I say Pontiac Bandit,” Jake said with a smirk.
“Ay, Jake, my man! Where’s Diaz?” Doug said as he struggled with the ropes. “Are you teaming up with vigilantes now? Does our friendship mean nothing to you?”
Daredevil chuckled softly. “You got interesting criminals in Brooklyn, Detective.”
“Well, you would see the police officers. Nine-Nine gang would love you, especially Rosa, Jake says.
“I’d love to, but cops aren’t always the best people to trust for someone like me, Detective.”
“You can trust me,” Jake said with a friendly smile. “Also, if you got any cool mission which requires your friendly neighbourhood detective/ genius, let me know.”
Daredevil chuckled and nodded. He saw a cradle in Jake’s car and smiled softly. “You have a kid?”
Jake nodded. “His name is Mac. Short for McClane.”
“Trying to be a good father?” the vigilante asked while nodding down at him.
“I try. My father was never around for me, so I try my best to stay around for him,” Jake said as his words turned mature.
“Stick around, Jake. You are an amazing father.”
Suddenly, they heard a sharp thwip on the roof. A figure landed above on the roof. “Fisk’s men have entered the bank. Are you coming?” The figure asked. The light beam hit the figure as he stood in the corner, looking down at them. It was Spider-Man. Daredevil nodded.
“See you around, Detective.” He said before taking his billy clubs and getting beside the web head. They ran across the rooftops while the sirens echoed.
“So cool,” Jake said while he watched the heroes run away, smiling to himself, and rain poured down the streets of New York.

I MEANNNNNN THATS INSANE I LOVE IT.
